The Region

There are three half-islands, Kassandra lies in the west. The whole region is engraved on evergreen pine-forests, slightly mixed with yellow cornfileds endless dark green olive-and pistachio groves during summer-time. Beginning with the month of feburary, nature starts to awaken with all its shining yellow mimosa-trees competing with soft rose almond-trees.Fields of poppy, orchids, violets, rosesand brooms and many other flowers will be seen all over the year. Kassandre is most attractive for tourists. On the one hand, the island comprehends all kinds of entertainment but on the other hand you can find a place to rest and to relax.

Sithonia lies in the middle of Chalkidiki. Sithonia is famous for its wild, rough landscape. The coast-line is always changing: pitoresque fishing villages, idyllic little harbours, lonesome beaches surrounded by bushes and trees. Sithonia is a symphony of blue and green: The manifold of colours and plants, the marvellous sky and the endless sea cannot be described sufficiently in its whole beauty by words.

Athos is the name of the island in the east. Here you will find a 2.033 m high mountain with the same name like the island. The island Athos possesses ranges of mountains, where you can also find about 20 monastries. The monk`s republic actually belongs to the Greek state, but as a restrict it is part of the orthodox church. Today, nearly 1500 monks live on the 336 qm big island. Women are not allowed to enter the island.
